HKIIT successfully hosted its annual flagship event, the HKIIT Industry Forum cum ExploreFest 2025, on 20 June 2025. The event attracted over 1,000 participants, including industry partners, professionals, secondary school principals, teachers, students, and members of the public to explore the achievements of HKIIT in fostering the development of IT talent.
Over 50 industry leaders participated in the HKIIT Industry Forum and shared their expert opinions on the future development of HKIIT. We are grateful for their continued support and invaluable insights, which are instrumental as HKIIT strives to nurture IT talents and establish itself as a leading IT training and examination hub in Hong Kong.
The project exhibition featured over 40 innovative student projects, showcasing HKIIT students' outstanding achievements and contributions to the fields of AI, cybersecurity, digital media, AR/VR, and more. These projects demonstrated the students' expertise, creativity, and professional skills, highlighting their ability to integrate innovation into daily life and contribute to the society.
In addition to the exhibition, HKIIT ExploreFest 2025 offered a series of taster workshops focusing on different technology areas, providing an engaging experience for the public and secondary school students. Participants had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge topics such as AI, cybersecurity, cloud technology, GenAI robot, VTuber, and drone technology, gaining hands-on experience and insights into these exciting fields.
Students from the Diploma of Foundation Studies (Digital Media Studies) participated in the production of the HKIIT annual review video, showcasing their skills in digital media technology. Additionally, students from the Higher Diploma in Theme Park and Theatre Creative Technology presented a “Stage Performance: Vocal Showcase with Entertainment Technology Design.” The technologies showcased by the students included advanced lighting programming, live sound mixing, 3D projection mapping, kinetic typography, and visual design.
HKIIT ExploreFest 2025 was a testament to HKIIT's dedication to fostering innovation and preparing students to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving technological world. In response to the enthusiastic interest shown by attendees, the HKIIT ExploreFest 2025 has extended its exhibition at the Digital Innovation Co-creation Centre until the end of September 2025. The public is welcome to visit the project exhibition, and tailored taster workshops will also be arranged for groups of secondary schools.

This event was made even more special as it was led by our Senior Lecturer, Wong Chun Yin,Cyrus (黃俊彥), who is the Google Developer Experts. His guidance and expertise played a significant role in enhancing our students' experience.

Over 25 students from HKIIT Higher Diploma in Theme Park and Theatre Creative Technology recently had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the audio-visual industry beyond the traditional theatre setting. They participated in a focused group discussion aimed at exploring global career development pathways and emerging trends in the corporate AV market.

Our students were truly inspired by the depth of knowledge and forward-looking perspectives offered during the session. On 26 April 2025, HKIIT had the pleasure of hosting a Trade-specific Information Session on Innovation and Technology in Shenzhen. This trade talk aimed to attract non-local students to enrol in VPAS eligible VTC full-time Higher Diploma (2-year) programmes.
We were honoured to have our renowned industry partners, Ms Venus Lau, HR Manager from HIT and Ms Winsome Lo, Head of Human Resources along with Mr Philip Lam, Staff Engineer, Data Engineering in Data & AI from LPS join us as our guest speakers. They shared valuable insights and promising career opportunities that highlighted the importance of innovation in today’s IT landscape.
In addition, two of our non-local students from Higher Diploma in Cloud and Data Centre Administration and HD in Data Science and AI took the stage to share their learning experiences at HKIIT, inspiring over 900 participants who joined us in person and online. Their stories showcased the industry-specific and practical learning opportunities available at HKIIT.

These Scholarships not only recognise the outstanding academic achievements of HKIIT students but also provide essential financial support to students, allowing them to focus on their studies and reach their full potential.
In support of the “ICBC Bright Future Project - Vocational and Professional Talents Programme”, the OneAsia Network scholarship is instrumental in providing financial assistance to six students from underprivileged areas of the Chinese Mainland. This initiative not only enables these students to pursue quality Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) in Hong Kong but also empowers them to explore diverse career development opportunities upon graduation.
We are also grateful to Newtech Technology for recognizing the outstanding academic achievements of our non-local students. The scholarship not only rewards excellence but also attracts high-quality talents to HKIIT, enhancing the learning environment and fostering student engagement.
During the ceremony, student representatives from Si Chuan and Lebanon shared their inspiring learning experiences in Hong Kong, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to Charles Lee (Founder and CEO of OneAsia and Newtech) for making their educational journeys possible.

The Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology ( HKIIT ) proudly co-hosted the GDSC2025 (Global Digital Skills Championships) China Regional Selection with the International Alliance for Digital Game Education (IADGE) from March 16 to 19, 2025, attracting digital game art experts and participants from Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong. This competition not only provided a platform for participants to showcase their talents but also promoted the development and exchange within the digital game art industry.
Special thanks to Mr. Felix Yip, Chairman of ACM SIGGRAPH Shanghai Chapter and Mr. Michael Sze, Project Director of CSoft for sharing their invaluable expert advice with us during the event. HKIIT students also gained significant knowledge and experience from this competition, further enriching their understanding of the digital game art industry.
As the concluding venue for the GDSC2025 China Regional Selection, all exceptional finalists will be invited to join the upcoming finals in Shanghai this July. HKIIT also expresses our gratitude to all the experts, teachers, and students whose dedication and hard work contributed to the success of this event. HKIIT and Cyberport Hong Kong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to collaboratively nurture talent and advance AI technology and governance. This partnership aims to expand the AI talent pool and foster the growth of the AI industry in Hong Kong!
