New Launch of Cybersecurity Centre

With the acceleration of digitalization driven by the pandemic, an increasing number of industries are applying innovative technologies to their operations to reduce costs and enhance customer experience, bringing more attention to information security and the need for investing in its improvement. In response to this, IVE Information Technology discipline has established the Cybersecurity Centre to cultivate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. The centre aims to provide quality and professional cybersecurity education and to raise public awareness of cybersecurity culture and importance, thus enhancing the cybersecurity level in Hong Kong.

IVE Information Technology Discipline has officially launched its Cybersecurity Centre on February 14, 2023. We cordially invited officiating guests including Professor SUN Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Mr Tony TAI, Chairman of Vocational Training Council (VTC), Dr Daniel YIP, Deputy Chairman, Mr Paul CHONG, Deputy Chairman, Mr Donald TONG, Executive Director, Ir Dr Eric Liu, Deputy Executive Director, Ir Dr John HUI, Academic Director of Information Technology Discipline, Ms Winnie NGAN, Principal of IVE(Chai Wan) and Ms Helen WONG, Head of Department of Information Technology of IVE (Chai Wan). The ceremony also invited dozens of industry representatives and close partners witnessed the unveiling of the centre and celebrated its launch.

The Cybersecurity Centre is dedicated to promoting industry collaboration and innovation. With state-of-the-art facilities and a platform for knowledge exchange, the centre will cultivate cybersecurity talents and provide training opportunities to keep professionals up-to-date with the latest skills and knowledge. The centre will also collaborate with the industry to offer more cybersecurity internships and participate in the VTC Earn & Learn programme, allowing young people to receive government and industry subsidies while studying and working.

 

In addition, the centre will continue to promote and educate the public about cybersecurity through a series of events, including competitions, workshops, seminars, and experience courses. Up-skilling and re-skilling courses will also be offered, including short-term courses for working professionals and professional certificate and diploma courses recognized by the qualifications framework, to effectively cultivate a diverse pool of cybersecurity talents for the industry.

In the future, the centre will join hands with industries to cultivating cybersecurity professionals, and design professional courses for nurturing more cybersecurity talents to meet the industry demand.
