IVE IT Discipline students won awards in various recent industry competitions
IVE IT Discipline students participated in various industry competitions and performed outstanding achievement in the past several months.
1. Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022
The “Hong Kong ICT Awards: Student Innovation Award” provides a platform for local ICT talents to demonstrate their outstanding works and achievements in the ICT industry to foster the future development of Innovation Technology. Our students won Silver and Merit Award in the Student Innovation (Tertiary or above) category of this renowned competition.
Silver Award Project “Streaming Hub” developed by students from HD in AI and Mobile Applications Development, IVE (Sha Tin), is an advanced live-streaming app which could provide professional-grade and high-quality live shows with a streamlined workflow. It integrates with an AI engine to detect and create Gesture Control, Augmented Reality 3D Model, and Intelligent interaction.
2. Open Data Hackathon 2022
The Open Data Hackathon 2022 was organised by Hong Kong Technology Advancement Group (HKtag), Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and funded by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO). The Hackathon aims at identifying outstanding inventions to facilitate more intelligent digitalization and to provide technological solutions to the city for building a smarter Hong Kong with an advancing and innovative atmosphere. Our students won 1st Runner-Up, 2nd Runner-Up, Best Teamwork and Merit Award in the College Team.
1st Runner-Up Award “TRed@IVECloud_SOS” developed by students from HD in Cloud and Data Centre Administration, IVE (Lee Wai Lee), integrates information by analyzing various data sets through different servers and AI intelligence on Google Cloud, targets to provide proper and accessible information for non-Chinese speaking and new immigrant students to choose the suitable school.
2nd Runner-Up Award “DSA Pro” developed by students from HD in Data Science and Analytics, IVE (Tsing Yi), aims at improving the existing facilities for persons with disabilities by utilizing the data set systematic analysis to enhance and enrich the existing accessibility measures.
3. Cathay Hackathon 2022
Cathay Hackathon aims to inspire and nurture young talents by developing and pitching pioneering technology solutions, and to cultivate innovation and sustainability. Our students won among more than 500 applications, and defeated the finalist 20 groups including HKU, HKUST and PhD students in this Hackathon. We swept the Champion & Most Popular Solution Award and the 1st Runner-Up Award.
Champion & Most Popular Solution Award “Cathay Green” developed by graduates from HD in AI and Mobile Applications Development, IVE (Sha Tin), HD in Game Software Development, IVE (Tsing Yi) and students from HD in Multimedia, VR and Interactive Technology, IVE (Sha Tin). The team proposed ESG & Green Travel solution by using artificial intelligence algorithm and currency system to enhance customers’ experience and to promote sustainability.
The team won round-trip business-class air tickets, and shares with a total of 100,000 Asia Miles. Students would also have the opportunities to become Cathay Pacific Digital and IT summer interns to further implement their ideas.
4. 27th InnoServe Awards 2022
InnoServe Awards, the International ICT Innovative Services Awards, is an annual ICT application competition held for university and college students, which aims to promote academic-industry collaboration by integrating academic training and practical experiences. Our students won the 2nd Runner-Up (Chinese Category) & Best Innovation Award (English Category) at this international competition.
2nd Runner-Up (Chinese Category) & Best Innovation Award (English Category) Project “AR Presentation Solution” developed by students from HD in AI and Mobile Applications Development and HD in Software Engineering of IVE (Sha Tin).
Award Students were well-equipped with uptrend innovative skills and broaden their horizon through accomplishing these practical experiences. Congratulations to the awardees and IVE IT is very honored to witness our advanced teaching and learning outcome.
