HKIIT was delighted to host this year's DevFest at our Tsing Yi campus — and to celebrate an incredible milestone together: 567 registrations! This amazing engagement reflects the strength and passion of Hong Kong’s developer community.
Co-hosted by GDG Hong Kong and GDG Cloud Hong Kong, HKIIT, GDG on Campus HKIIT, we welcomed developers, partners, teachers, and students to share ideas, explore cutting-edge technologies, and build meaningful connections.
Our Principal, Dr John Hui, was also invited to deliver the welcome speech. He shared that the event underscored HKIIT’s commitment in bridging theory with practice by giving students and the wider community meaningful exposure to real-world challenges and cutting-edge solutions.
This year’s DevFest Hong Kong featured five tracks, delivering a comprehensive developer experience:
- AI & Machine Learning Innovation
- Secure Development & Governance
- Cloud-Native Architecture & Scalability
- Web & Mobile Ecosystem Futures
- Hands-on Codelabs
International Googlers, Google Developer Experts, and evangelist speakers joined from the US, Australia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and beyond—making this a truly global celebration of technology and collaboration.
We are excited to see the community come together to learn, code, and innovate—shaping the future of technology right here in Hong Kong.
Huge thanks to Eric ShangKuan, Sebastian Gnagnarella, GDG Hong Kong, GDG Cloud Hong Kong, all partners, organizers, volunteers, speakers, and participants who made this event possible. Let’s keep building amazing things together!
HKIIT is delighted to have co-organised the International Competition 2025 with Temasek Polytechnic School of Informatics & IT (IIT) in Singapore.
This collaborative competition is designed to foster innovation, teamwork, and practical problem-solving among students from both institutions. It also emodies the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between the VTC and TP, aimed at organising professional skills competitions that promote academic and technical exchange across both regions, in response to the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and technology.
Sixteen HKIIT students travelled to Singapore, where HKIIT and TP students formed cross‑institutional teams. The competition challenged the teams across four different tracks:
AI & Analytics (Healthcare): Preventive health and wellness solutions to improve outcomes and public health
Mobile & Web Development: User-centric apps focused on usability and impact
Cybersecurity: Ethical, hands-on security skills applied to real scenarios
VR/Game Development: Immersive experiences that engaged audiences
In addition to technical mastery, a key highlight was the exchange of ideas between HKIIT and TP students, where they learnt from each other’s approaches, gathered feedback, and turned concepts into practical solutions. Equally important, students built genuine friendships and professional networks that will last well beyond the competition. These cultural exchange experiences broadened students’ horizons and provided valuable learning opportunities outside the classroom.
Our sincere thanks to Temasek Polytechnic—especially the School of IIT team led by Ming Fai Tang and also the organising committee for the warm hospitality and unwavering support. We also appreciate the dedication of mentors, judges, and staff from both TP and HKIIT who made this event possible:

Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome TP staff and students to HKIIT next year, as HKIIT hosts the competition in Hong Kong. Let's build on this momentum and continue empowering students to create meaningful, real-world impact.
Thank you, TP, for the partnership—and to all participants, congratulations on a rewarding and inspiring competition!
