VTC in collaboration with OpenACC organization and NVIDIA, hosting the Hong Kong AI for Science Bootcamp

The Vocational Training Council, in collaboration with OpenACC organization and NVIDIA, is hosting the Hong Kong AI for Science Bootcamp for a day on 28 June.

During this bootcamp, participants will learn how to apply AI tools, techniques, and algorithms to real-life problems.

You will study the core concepts of Deep Neural Networks, how to build Deep Learning models, as well as how to measure and improve the accuracy of your models.

You will also learn essential data pre-processing techniques to ensure a robust Machine Learning pipeline.

This bootcamp has a hands-on learning experience where you will be guided through step-by-step instructions with teaching assistants on hand to help throughout.

This bootcamp will be delivered in Hybrid Mode. We will contact you directly to notify and provide the participation details once received your application

•             Microsoft Teams (Online)

The language used in the bootcamp is English. Chinese explanation will be offered to applicate joining face-to-face mode.

IVE IT Discipline students won awards in various recent industry competitions

1.      The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards

The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA Awards) is an international awards program. By providing networking and product benchmarking opportunities to ICT innovators and entrepreneurs in the region, the program is designed to stimulate ICT innovation and creativity, promote economic and trade relations, facilitate technology transfer, and offer business matching opportunities via exposure to venture capitalists and investors. Our students won Merit Award in categories of Student – Tertiary Technology and Student – Tertiary Applications respectively.

Successful Launch of the Vocational and Professional Education Services (Shenzhen) Company Limited (VPES) – Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC) in Shenzhen, China

Following with the end of COVID era, travel clearance between Hong Kong and Mainland has resumed normally in progress. With a more convenient environment at this moment for cooperation between HK and Chinese Mainland, we're thrilled to announce the successful launch of the Vocational and Professional Education Services (Shenzhen) Company Limited (VPES) – Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC) in Shenzhen, China. VPES-ITCC is poised to provide VPET services to students, teachers, and industrial partners in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), heralding a new era of educational innovation and collaboration.


 

New Launch of Cybersecurity Centre

With the acceleration of digitalization driven by the pandemic, an increasing number of industries are applying innovative technologies to their operations to reduce costs and enhance customer experience, bringing more attention to information security and the need for investing in its improvement. In response to this, IVE Information Technology discipline has established the Cybersecurity Centre to cultivate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. The centre aims to provide quality and professional cybersecurity education and to raise public awareness of cybersecurity culture and importance, thus enhancing the cybersecurity level in Hong Kong.

Desmond Chan is a Production Manager at DNEG Animation. His most recent work is on the Netflix show Entergalactic. He has been in the Animation film and TV industry for over 20 years. Desmond worked on a variety of films such as TMNT, Astroboy, Wish Dragon, Ron's Gone Wrong. Before joining DNEG, he worked at Menfond, Centro Digital Pictures, Imagi & Base FX. Desmond joined Imagi in 2007 as a Supervising Technical Director, he was involved in designing the production pipeline & standardization and leading R&D team to develop tools for project tracking

VTC Future Skills Community Event - IVE IT Discipline

The most recent VTC Future Skills Community Event (9 – 11 Dec) was successfully concluded. Through highlighted activities such as Industry seminars, VIP Tours, and thematic projects exhibitions, IVE IT Discipline gave industry partners and public an insightful peek into the cultivated effort of our Vocational and professional education and training (VPET).

IT Discipline demonstrated total 14 digital exhibits, enabling visitors to taste the uptrend development of innovation technology, as well as understand our practical learning and teaching through the applications development for enhancing quality of life. IT Discipline gathered a number of industry leaders, experts and professionals to participate in themed seminars covering the topical issues relating to Metaverse and Cybersecurity and visit our innovative and award-winning inventions and creations through the ITD VIP Guided Tour.

IVE IT Discipline signs memorandum of understanding with H3C to nurture technology talents of the future

IVE IT Discipline signs a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with H3C earlier, joining hands in enhancing digital skills development in Hong Kong, nurturing technology talents, transforming Hong Kong into a sustainable, smart and international city, and building a digital future together.

The collaboration will see the first H3C professional certification training and examination centre, which offers courses and certification on network infrastructure and management, network security, Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing and more.

Ir Dr Eric Liu, Deputy Executive Director of VTC, said, “We are grateful for H3C’s support for VTC. The partnership has offered IVE Information Technology students a gateway to H3C’s ample learning resources, newest cyber technology and knowledge on how these skills are relevant to different industries. We appreciate the support and training from professional H3C representatives and hope we can work together in the future to offer more opportunities for the next generation and to foster more digital talents for our city.”
