IVE IT Discipline students won awards in various recent industry competitions
IVE IT Discipline students participated in various industry competitions across the globe and performed outstanding achievements in the past several months.
1. 2023 AWS DeepRacer League
Presented by Intel, AWS DeepRacer League, a global autonomous racing league for all-age participants. Contestants competed to train the machine learning models that can drive the 1/18th scale autonomous race cars for racing in virtual and physical tracks against competitors from worldwide. It is a highly competitive and public event that draws more than 100 IT professionals coming from Town Gas, HKT, MTR, PwC, Deloitte, etc. The champion of this competition will receive a paid trip to represent Hong Kong to attend the AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup 2023 in Las Vegas. Our graduates & student have swept the Champion, 1st Runner-Up & 2nd Runner-Up.
Our graduates & student from HD in Cloud and Data Centre Administration, IVE (Lee Wai Lee) swept Champion, 1st Runner-Up & 2nd Runner-Up. Champion has received a paid trip to represent Hong Kong to attend AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup 2023 in Las Vegas.
2. Challenge Cup (Innovation) - The 9th Hong Kong University Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition
The "Challenge Cup" is hailed as the Olympics of innovation and technology for Chinese youth. It become an important platform for communication and sharing among students from various universities in Hong Kong in the fields of innovative technology and entrepreneurship. It is also an important platform for connecting industry, academia, and research, as well as discovering technological innovation and entrepreneurial talent. Our student has won 2 2nd Prize & 2 Merit Awards in the Challenge Cup (Innovation) of The 9th Hong Kong University Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition.
Projects “Dokodemo Call” & “ZeroVio” developed by students from HD in Software Engineering, IVE (Sha Tin), have been awarded the 2nd Prize respectively. “Dokodemo Call” is a AR video call solution to address the issue of Elder difficulties in operating particular electronic devices. “ZeroVio” is an AI-based application that detects violent incidents in real-time and notifies users immediately.
Project “Voice to Interior Design” developed by students from HD in Software Engineering, IVE (Sha Tin), and “Knowledge-Graph based A.I. Community Rehabilitation Training and Treatment Support Platform” developed by students from HD in Data Science and Analytics, IVE (Tsing Yi), has been awarded the Merit Award respectively. “Voice to Interior Design” developed a new interior design mobile application for designing rough 3D interior design model based on sound-to-text technologies. “Knowledge-Graph based A.I. Community Rehabilitation Training and Treatment Support Platform” is proposed to simplify the workflow of physiotherapists and could potentially largely enhance their efficiency.
3. The Greater Bay Area STEM Excellence Award 2023 (HKSAR)
Organized by Hong Kong New Emerging Technology Education Association (HKNETEA), supported by the Education Bureau (EDB), Innovation and Technology Bureau (ITB) and Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO). The Greater Bay Area STEM Excellence Award 2023 (HKSAR) aims to enhance students’ creativity & innovation, and recognise young STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) talents for their efforts. Our student has won 3 Gold Awards, 2 Silver Awards, 4 Bronze Awards & 3 Merit Awards.
Awarded projects developed by students from HD in AI and Mobile Applications Development, Cloud and Data Centre Administration, Data Science and Analytics, Games and Animation, Software Engineering and Telecommunication and Networking of various campuses, including IVE Lee Wai Lee, Sha Tin, Tuen Mun and Tsing Yi campuses swept 3 Gold Awards, 2 Silver Awards, 4 Bronze Awards & 3 Merits.
Award Students were well-equipped with uptrend innovative skills and broadened their horizons through accomplishing these practical experiences. Congratulations to the awardees and IVE IT is very honored to witness our advanced teaching and learning outcome.
