HKIIT is delighted to have hosted the career sharing session, "Accelerating Your IT Career: Insights from HKRTIA Industry Leaders," on 24 September 2026.

We were honoured to welcome distinguished industry leaders from HKRTIA, including Dennis Kwan, Vincent So, Kinman Tsang, and Raymond Yip. They provided valuable insights into career development, lifelong learning, and strategies for thriving in an AI-driven future.

During the event, students also watched 'HKRTIA’s 1st Top 10 Distinguished IT Achievement Awards' interview video (https://lnkd.in/gGwRdpry), with which HKIIT graduates from the Higher Diploma in Digital Media Technology (formerly known as the Higher Diploma in Multimedia, VR and Interactive Technology) assisted in its filming and production. The video offered valuable insights from industry CIOs.

The interactive panel discussion and Q&A session enabled students to explore industry expectations, understand the changing role of technology professionals, and learn how internships, capstone projects, hackathons, and continuous upskilling can strengthen their career readiness.

HKIIT is committed to strengthening our "Industry + Institute" collaboration to equip students with the tech skills and mindset required for the AI era.

We are excited to share the success of our third AI workshop in partnership with HGC Broadband!

Held on 17 September, our AI workshop “家好月圓AI 中秋工作坊” brought together over 80 senior elderly participants, who utilized AI tools to generate digital images, videos, and songs to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. For many, it was their first hands-on experience with AI, and the enthusiasm in the room was truly encouraging.

This workshop built on our previous two sessions with HGC, with a shared goal of showing that AI is not just a buzzword to the elderly, but something that can be applied in everyday life in simple and enjoyable ways.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the HGC team for their ongoing partnership and commitment to community service, to The Hong Kong Society for the Aged for their support, and to our Senior Lecturer, Mr Gary Wong, for leading a session that was as warm as it was informative.

Seeing more than 80 smiling faces curious to learn something new is a reminder of why this work matters. We look forward to continuing this journey with HGC and creating more meaningful impact together.

HKIIT is delighted to host the International Competition 2026 in Hong Kong on 4 – 5 August 2026, in close collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic (TP)'s School of Informatics & IT (IIT), Singapore.

Following the successful co-organisation of the competition in Singapore last year, we are delighted to welcome TP School of IIT staff and students to our HKIIT Tsing Yi campus for this year's event.

More than just a competition, the International Competition 2026 serves as a platform for learning, innovation, and collaboration. Students from HKIIT and TP have come together to tackle real-world challenges across four key tracks:

• AI & Analytics
• Cybersecurity
• Web & Mobile Development
• VR/Game Development

With two students from TP and two from HKIIT in each team, participants were able to engage in cross-institutional collaboration, exchange insights, and put their technical knowledge, creativity and problem-solving skills into practice.

In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, especially with the growing impact of artificial intelligence, it is more important than ever for students to develop not only technical expertise, but also creativity, adaptability, and teamwork. Through this competition, students gain valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge, exchange ideas, and transform innovative concepts into practical solutions.

Beyond the technical challenges, a key highlight of the competition is the opportunity for students from both institutes to learn from one another, build friendships, and broaden their horizons through cross-cultural exchange. These experiences make international collaboration truly meaningful and create lasting personal and professional connections.

Our sincere thanks to TP's School of IIT for their strong partnership and support in making this competition possible. We would also like to thank all the academic and technical staff, mentors, and judges from both institutes for their dedication and professionalism in creating such a meaningful and inspiring learning experience for the students.

HKIIT was delighted to co-organise the 2026 Hong Kong & Macau Cisco Networking Academy Instructor Forum and The 22nd Cisco Hong Kong Macau Youth Networking Skills Competition 2026 on 18 July 2026.

It was a meaningful occasion, bringing together instructors, industry partners and young talents from Hong Kong and Macau to exchange insights on the latest developments in networking technology education, while celebrating the achievements of the next generation of ICT talent.

At HKIIT, we strongly believe in the power of collaboration, innovation and hands-on learning. From the Instructor Forum’s discussions on AI-era networking trends, ICT talent cultivation and professional development, to the youth competition that allowed students to apply their skills in a real-world setting, the event truly reflected our shared commitment to nurturing future-ready IT professionals.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Cisco, AiTLE and CPTTM for their long-standing partnership and unwavering support in advancing networking education and talent development across Hong Kong and Macau.

As Hong Kong’s first dedicated tertiary institution for grooming IT talent, HKIIT will continue to work closely with industry to equip students with practical, professional and forward-looking learning opportunities in areas such as AI, networking and cloud computing.

A New Milestone in Esports Technology Education and IT Talent Development 

The Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT) officially launched its new Esports Technology Centre last Friday (26 June). The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr Raistlin LAU, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the HKSAR Government. Distinguished guests, industry partners, teachers, and students gathered to witness the centre’s launch, marking a new milestone in local esports technology education and further promoting the development of IT talent. 
The opening ceremony featured a spectacular light and visual performance created by HKIIT teachers and students. Combining lighting, visual design, stage production and technology, the performance demonstrated how students successfully applied the knowledge learned in the classroom into practice, while showcasing their innovative capabilities and technical expertise. Alongside the Centre’s opening, HKIIT also hosted its annual flagship event, ExploreFest 2026, featuring students’ innovative achievements in the technology field.

Equipped with Industry-standard Facilities to Nurture Digital Entertainment and Esports Talent 
Since its inception, HKIIT has been committed to nurturing a new generation of digital professionals and skilled IT talent. To align with the Government's strategic direction of promoting technology development and positioning Hong Kong as a hub for major international esports events, HKIIT has set up the Esports Technology Centre with state-of-the-art facilities to support related teaching and learning, and foster industry collaboration across esports technologies and digital entertainment. 
Equipped with industry-standard facilities, the Centre supports training across key areas including:

• Esports event management
• Game development
• IT and digital media support
• Live streaming technology
• KOL and content creation skills

Beyond technical training, the Centre also focuses on developing the well-rounded capabilities needed in the esports and digital entertainment industries, including communication, collaboration, strategic thinking, adaptability and teamwork. This comprehensive approach enhances students' professional competencies, building a solid foundation for future careers and the delivery of high-quality esports events. 

Inaugural “HKIIT Esports Cup” Put Learning into Practice 
HKIIT previously organised its inaugural Esports Cup, bringing together young competitors from Secondary 4 or above to compete on a professional esports stage and showcase their talents. The event was more than a competition of speed and skill, which also served as a valuable learning platform that combined teamwork, strategy and adaptability. 
HKIIT students were actively involved in event production, technical support and content creation, applying their classroom knowledge in a real-world environment. This hands-on experience demonstrated the unique strengths of VPET in seamlessly integrating theory with practice. 
Mr Raistlin LAU, Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the HKSAR Government, presented awards to the champion, first runner-up and second runner-up teams, encouraging the young generation to continue developing their strengths in the field of esports technology. 

HKIIT ExploreFest Features Over 40 Outstanding Projects, Showcasing Students’ Innovative Capabilities 
HKIIT ExploreFest showcased more than 40 outstanding student projects leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital media. The exhibits not only demonstrated students’ creativity and technical expertise, but also reflected their in-depth understanding of technology applications beyond the classroom and their spirit of exploration. ExploreFest also featured interactive experiential workshops, demonstrating the achievements of VPET in nurturing professional IT talent. 

Close Industry Collaboration to Foster the Next Generation of Esports Technology and IT Professionals 
Looking ahead, HKIIT will continue to leverage the Esports Technology Centre to organise more competitions and industry collaboration activities. By deepening partnerships with the industry, HKIIT aims to nurture talent equipped with both professional skills and practical experience. This will support Hong Kong in hosting international innovation, technology, and esports events, contributing to the city's role as "Asia’s Events Capital."

On 28 May 2026, HKIIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yonyou (Hong Kong) Company Limited, a leading provider of enterprise software and intelligent services. The MoU was signed by Dr Fu Tak Chung (Vice Principal of HKIIT) and Mr Owen Cai (Marketing Director of Yonyou HK), and witnessed by Dr John Hui (Principal of HKIIT) and Dr Murphy Li (Managing Director of Yonyou HK). 

This strategic partnership underscores our shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of IT talent and driving regional technology development. By embracing HKIIT's 'I + I' (industry-institution) collaboration, Yonyou (HK) will empower students with essential digital skills through hands-on industrial attachments, industry projects, mentorship and sharing sessions. This comprehensive collaboration will also provide access to cutting-edge digital platforms for training, enhance technical knowledge exchange, and facilitate IT talent flow between Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area to help foster a more regionally integrated talent pool.
