虛擬偶像 (Virtual Idol) 於日本興起後，熱潮迅速擴展至全球，隨著 5G、虛擬實境 (Virtual Reality, VR)、擴增實境 (Augmented Reality，AR) 、人工智能 (Artificial Intelligence, AI) 等創新科技的發展，大大提升虛擬偶像的可塑性，並擴大其應用範疇。香港專業教育學院(IVE)資訊科技學科老師與學生緊貼巿場發展，合力創造虛擬偶像 IT Sarah，並於不同院校活動上登場，展現結合創意與應用的教學成果。
學生團隊運用新興的混合實境及動態捕捉等系統，結合現場影像實況輸出軟件，使到 IT Sarah 能夠於現場與觀眾實時互動。而在整個正式表演過程，學生需要負責控制整個系統。製作 IT Sarah 的過程曾遇到不少挑戰，例如團隊最初將 IT Sarah 原動畫角色的骨骼結構直接滙入至虛擬拍攝系統，結果因為原有的骨骼結構出現額外支節，導致結合出來的效果未如預期。經過團隊再三修改、調整及反覆測試，方得出理想效果。團隊汲取經驗後，對系統及技術有更透徹的理解，有助日後製作其他虛擬偶像。
The Vocational Training Council (VTC) participated in the InnoCarnival 2021 that run from 23 October till 31 October 2021 to showcase a number of innovation and technology (I&T) applied projects co-developed by teachers and students of its member institutions, namely the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE). The projects on display offer creative solutions to real-life problems for a better tomorrow. Themed “Innovate for a Bright Future”, the InnoCarnival 2021 is organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission, with Paul CHAN Mo-po, HKSAR Financial Secretary, officiating at the opening ceremony.
