HKIIT is delighted to have co-organised the IET Faraday Challenge Day 2023

HKIIT is delighted to have co-organised the IET Faraday Challenge Day 2023, an incredible event fostering STEM education and innovation!

Since 2013, the IET Faraday Challenge Days have been a remarkable initiative by the IET Hong Kong, offering junior secondary students a unique cross-curricular experience in Science, Design and Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). It allows them to tackle tough engineering problems and develop creative solutions.

This year's theme, the 'Future Flight Challenge,' invited over 100 F1 and F2 students and teachers from 11 schools, forming 13 teams, to compete at the Bright Future Hall in IVE (Morrison Hill) on 25 November 2023.

In just 8 hours, these talented F1 and F2 students, along with their dedicated teachers, passionately designed and prototyped innovative solutions using diverse materials and electronic components. Their task was to create prototypes supporting air mobility vehicles with a focus on accessibility, ease of use, safety, and impact on the environment.

The winning team designed a prototype of a drone with a parachute system and an user interface. Congratulations to the students for their outstanding achievement!

Participating in the IET Faraday Challenge Days provided these students with hands-on experience as engineers, immersed in real-life challenges related to aviation domain. Their dedication and the quality of their work throughout the event were truly commendable.

We extend our gratitude to the IET, VTC Innovation & Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC) and Hong Kong Association for Computer Education (HKACE) for their support in making this event a spectacular success. Our HKIIT teachers and students had an incredible time inspiring and offering technical support to the participants when they designed their own prototypes. It was a rewarding experience for all!

At HKIIT, we believe in nurturing young talent and fostering a passion for technology. The IET Faraday Challenge Day 2023 perfectly aligned with our mission, and we are proud to have been part of this wonderful event. We look forward to continuing our commitment to promoting information technology and technological advancements!
