IVE IT Discipline students won awards in various recent industry competitions

IVE IT Discipline students participated in various industry competitions and performed outstanding achievements in the past several months.

1. HD in Data Science and Analytics students from IVE (Tsing Yi) Swept Champion, 1st Runner up, 2nd Runner up and Best Innovation Awards in IET YPEC 2023

• Champion & Best Innovation Project “Portable Brainwave Control Framework”
  An industrial partnership project cooperates with R2C2 to seek an innovative approach to robotic control. It aims to develop a controlling framework incorporating small robots, allowing the robot dog to respond to commands and use Brain waves to control the walking path.
   
• 1st Runner up Project “Intelligent Driver Behavior Detection Service”
  A model aims for detecting unsafe driving behaviours to avoid traffic accidents. Alert feedback will notify the driver when unsafe driving behaviours are seen. System has foreseen that an innovative micro-service will monitor all driving behaviours in rented vehicles.
   
• 2nd Runner up Project “Rehab-KG 復康易: Knowledge-Graph (KG) AI Rehabilitation Support Platform”
  An Al Rehabilitation Treatment Support Platform aims to provide better rehabilitation and physical therapy services for the elderly and patients in need within the community.

 

2. Won Gold Medal, and two Bronze Medals in the 12th Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao and Chengdu Youth Skills Competition

• Gold Medal
  Ng Kai Shing, graduate of HD in AI and Mobile Applications Development, IVE (Sha Tin), whose braille learning app was being awarded in the Apple Swift Student Challenge and was presented to Apple CEO –Tim Cook in the WWDC23 in June 2023, again created a remarkable achievement and got the Gold Medal in the GHMCYSC!

3. Won the First Prize & Second Prize in the China Collegiate Computing Contest Mobile Application Innovation Contest

• First Prize project “Dokodemo Call”
  HD in Software Engineering, IVE (Sha Tin)
  An AR video call solution as a remote instruction method for older people in some instances to address the issue of “Elder difficulties in operation particular electronic device”.
   
• Second Prize project ”Wonderland”
  HD in Software Engineering & AI and Mobile Applications Development, IVE (Sha Tin)
  An interactive experience creation tool for the iPad, enabling users to easily create various 3D models by simple gestures, 3D models are also enabled to be placed and modified in an AR scene.

 

4. Won Silver Medal and Potential Prizes in the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024

• Silver Medal
  Three students from HD in Software Engineering won the silver medal in computing track competition and have been awarded an impressive prize of HK$24,000.
   
• Potential Prizes
  Six students from HD in Software Engineering, Telecommunications and Networking, Data Science and Analytics, and AI and Mobile Applications Development have been awarded the potential prize in cloud track competition.

 

5. Five projects under IT Discipline have been admitted to the HKSTP Ideation Programme, each awarded project team will get a grant of $100,000 with various assistance to actualize their idea & kickstart their start-up business.
